Architecture, Security & Governance for High-Assurance Systems

About

I work at the intersection of architecture, security and governance, helping organisations bring structure and clarity to complex systems as they scale.

My work is focused on system-level design, risk, resilience and the alignment of technical architecture with operational and regulatory requirements.

What I do

How I work

I usually work in a flexible, high-autonomy advisory capacity, focused on outcomes rather than fixed delivery structures.

I am most useful where organisations need clear thinking around complex systems, structural risk, resilience, security or governance.

I am available for principal-level security architecture, high-assurance cyber assessment, security research, incident response and forensic advisory, security governance and authorised security testing, alongside architecture and governance work.

Background

My experience spans healthcare, government, financial services, telecommunications and large-scale internet platforms.

Across these environments I have worked on systems where resilience, security, data integrity and operational clarity are critical.

Security practice and research

Security has been a continuous technical discipline throughout my career rather than an adjunct to my architecture work. My experience spans Linux/UNIX and operating-system security, network and infrastructure security, IDS and monitoring, vulnerability assessment, authorised penetration testing, incident response and technical forensic investigation, secure communications, identity and trust, cryptographic and provenance controls, and security governance.

I remain technically active through high-assurance product assessment, open-source systems and protocol work, vulnerability investigation and independent research into identity, trust, resilient distributed systems and assured data exchange.

Current focus

I am co-founder and director of iCoriolis Ltd, where I work as Chief Architecture & Security Officer (CASO).

My current work includes architecture, security and governance consulting for client organisations, alongside product development in the area of assured data exchange for regulated environments.

Technical writing

I also write under the handle hacknix, covering systems, Linux, networking, open source, amateur radio and technical topics.
